Isaac born about 1716 in Isle of Wight. lived until 1792 by which time he was living in Hertford County, North Carolina and married to Sarah Browne, the daughter of ?; – did not take part in the Revolutionary War, but according to historian William Price, “he appears to have provided the soldiers with a stream of supplies worth at least 10,000 pounds in local currency. Isaac had four sons, three of whom fought the British during the Revolution.[1][2][3]
Isaac Carter Snr left a will in which he appointed his son, Lazarus Carter, his executor. His daughter Parthenia married Shadrack Rutland, November 12, 1775.[4]

Dated for the Bertie court record on 3 Dec 1751. Names sons: John (?smith? tools and illegible), William (land on the south side of Cabbing branch to be at age 16). and Nemiah (land on the north side of the branch). Wife Martha (a third part). Sell tobacco to pay his debts. Isaac Carter, Joseph Benthall, and ?Lunar? Laughton to equally divide his estate according to his will. Son John Knight and friend Isaac Carter executors. Witnesses: William Knight, Susannah Skiner, Joseph Benthall.
