Biography

Dorcas Carter was born about 1735 in Virginia and married John Coffee Jr. in 1755, in Albemarle county, Virginia. John Coffey is the son of John Coffey and Jane Graves. After Dorcas' death, John married Nancy Richardson. [1] Children of Dorcas and John include:

  • Thomas Coffeey, born 1757, in Albemarle county, Virginia [2]
  • Meredith Coffey, born about 1769, died in 1838 in Grainger County, Tennessee, married Ester (Hester) ___ about 1797 [3] Meredith Coffee appointed as one of the grand jurors for the first quarter of 1813 Grainger County, Tennessee court dates. Hereby appointed for the term of August 16, 1813, Grainger County, Tennessee [4]
  • Sally Coffee [Coffey] married Benjamin Rhea, in 1802, in Grainger county, Tennessee. [5]
  • Jenney Coffee [Coffey] married Levi Miller, on September 23, 1806, in Grainger county, Tennessee. [6]
