"Salley Carter" was named in the Will of her father, signed June 18, 1781 and presented at Halifax Court, September 20, 1781. [1]

Sarah "Salley" Carter was born circa 1765, in Henrico county, Virginia, a daughter of Captain John C. Carter and Mary Michaux Cunningham.
Salley is probably Sarah (naming tradition of the time). She is unmarried at the time of her father's will in 1781 and not listed on the Chancery Suit of her brother's heirs in 1825.
