Research Notes
Burial: Carver Cemetery (small stone not inscribed) Wellborn, Florida
Note: In those early days many used corn shucks for bedding soaked and softened in water, dried and dried again in recent suns. Over these shucks, that would rustle softly with the turn of their bodies, was spread the thick mattress of soft cotton, caught between its homespun ticking with strong thread. Atop the cotton mattress lay the feather bed, the feathers saved from their geese and chickens. Atop this were homespun sheets and quilts.
