Elizabeth (Cary) Agassiz is Notable.
An American educator, naturalist, writer, and the co-founder and first president of Radcliffe College.


She was a Scientist. The wife of naturalist Louis Agassiz, she helped to organize and manage the Thayer Expedition to Brazil in 1865, and the Hassler Expedition to the Strait of Magellan in 1871. She co-wrote "A First Lesson in Natural History," "Seaside Studies in Natural History," and "A Journey in Brazil". She served as President of Radcliffe College from 1882 to 1899.

Elizabeth Cabot Cary was born December 5, 1822 in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, United States. She was a daughter of Thomas Graves Cary Mary Ann Cushing Perkins.[1]

She married Jean Louis Rodolphe Agassiz in 1850 in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, United States .[2]

Elizabeth died June 27, 1907 in Arlington Heights, Massachusetts, United States.[1] She was buried at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States.[3]
