Abraham was born in 1772 in Spartanburg, Greenville Co, SC.
The Casey family moved to Greene County, GA by 1790.
At that time most of Georgia was designated as Cherokee or Creek lands. Greene County (created in 1786) was on the western frontier between the white and Indian lands, basically located where Greene County is today, but was a little larger then, so I’m not sure that where they lived then would be in Greene County today.
Abraham P. Casey married (probably in Greene County, GA) in 1784 to Mary Nancy Baker. They lived a few years in Georgia, where some of his older children were born.
In 1800 he, with his father and others of the family, moved to Smith County, TN (now included in Macon County) and resided there for a few years.
About 1810-11 Abraham P. moved to Illinois and located near the "Cave in Rock" on the Ohio River.
In the spring of 1817 (or 1818) he and his children settled near where Mt. Vernon now is, and there his children grew up and married, except perhaps John Clark probably married shortly before he located in what is now Johnson County.
He was in Illinois in 1820, living in Caseys Prairie twp, Jefferson Co, IL, along with his sons John Clarke & Green P. Casey, and also his brothers Isaac & Zadoc and sister Rebecca DePriest.

Casey, A.P.

1 female 60-70
1 male 10-15
In person he was fully six feet tall, a little stooped shouldered and rather raw boned.
He was a migratory character, so did not obtain much property as some others, but he was so fond of hard money, despising paper currency, that he obtained the sobriquet of "Old Silver."
Abraham P. was a man of thrift and industry, punctilious in the payment of his debts, and performance of his contracts. He was a great stickler for hard money and dubbed himself "Old Silver" by which name he was familiarly called the latter years of his life. He was a man fond of his friends and social in his disposition and would at intervals take his sprees, which the customs of the South and West tolerated in his day and time.
His son, Isaac died in Jefferson Co, IL in Nov, 1840.
In 1841, while he was visiting his son, John Clarke Casey, in Oregon Co, Mo, he died there at the home of his son, Feb 2, 1841, age 69.
