Meshach was born in 1816. He was the son of Nathaniel Casteel and Jane McMullen. He passed away in 1903.
The funeral sermon of Mr. Meshack Casteel was preached in the Methodist Church, Monday at 11 a.m. by Rev. H. E. Friend, after which the remains were interred in the Casteel cemetery on the old Casteel farm. He was born in the year 1816, and was therefore 87 years old. This aged gentleman was loved and very much respected by everyone who knew him, and possessed many noble qualities. He has been a faithful member of the M. E. Church for a number of years. One son survives him. The pall bearers were, Rev. D. F. Friend, Messrs. Jeremiah and Allen Enlow, George Bishoff, A. C. DeWitt and Meshack Mattingly.
