William was listed as as "infant" in the court records of his father's probate dated 06 Aug 1806 so he could not have been born circa 1770. His birth year is estimated to be 1788. Since he is 11 years junior in age to his next oldest brother, John Casteel b. circa 1777 it is thought that William and John had 2 different mothers. William is the son of the union of Margaret McClelland 2nd wife to Joseph Casteel. (Cherie Casteel 05 Aug 2020).
To date nothing else is known about William after the 1810 Personal Property Tax List in Russell Co VA. (Cherie Casteel 05 Aug 2020).
