Janie (Casteel) Stiger is a part of US Black heritage.

Janie (Casteel) Stiger is one of twins.

Jane was born around 1865 in Texas. She had an apparent twin, Oliver, and she was listed as the daughter of Joseph and Sarah Castille in the 1870 and 1880 census records; the family was living in Davis County, Texas in 1870 and in Cass County, Texas in 1880.

Jane married Dave Stiger in Cass County in 1882. They raised a large family in Cass County where they farmed.

According to her gravestone, Jane passed away in 1921 and was buried in the Floyd Valley Church Cemetery in Cass County.

Research Notes

Joseph and Sarah may have been the grandparents and not the parents based on their ages; Sarah would have been 48 when the twins were born and she lists a later child that would have been born when she was 55.
