Queen Anne's War (1702–1713), was the North American theatre of the War of the Spanish Succession. The Treaty of Utrecht ended the war in 1713, resulting in France ceding claims to the territories of Hudson Bay, Acadia, and Newfoundland to Britain, while retaining Cape Breton and other islands in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. As a result of the treaty and subsequent divisions North American colonies were as appear on the map.
