Debbie WILSON, NH. Immigrant James CATE, born about 1634. He was a carpenter and was first mentioned in Portsmouth records in 1657, so it was probably about this time he immigrated. He died 15 May 1677. Administration of his estate was granted to his widow Alice who married secondly before 1679 John WESTBROOK. After that date, Alice used the name CATE or WESTBROOK,evidently according to whichever family she was dealing with. "Children named in the settlement in 1702 on her petition after son Edward had kept her out near 24 years."
