* The timeline of John J Quarles (b.1838) does not quite make sense. John is supposedly living with brother Ephraim in 1860. Ephraim enlisted in Civil War from Winston Co. MS in 1862, while John enlisted from Anderson Co. TX in 1861. There are many QUARLES in Anderson Co. TX, but none of the genealogies claim John as a relation. In particular, is William Quarles (b.1830), who most genealogies assume is son of Samuel Quarles (b.1788), based on what I don't know. If the John Quarles (b.1838) in Anderson Co. TX is "our" John, then William (b.1830) is most likely related. Is it possible that William is John's brother? Notice that John's parents (Hubbard & Elizabeth) have 2 unidentified sons on 1830/1840 census.
In 1850, William W Quarels (b.1830) is in Union Co. AR. There are other QUARLES in Union Co. AR, but not John. All these QUARLES, appear to be related, and several moved on the Anderson Co. Texas.
Is it possible that some of them are the "missing" sons of Hubbard Quarles?
There are many QUARLES buried in Anderson Co. TX.

UNIDENTIFIED: child male#2 (b.1821/25) on 1830-1840 census, cannot identify, *might be ENOCH*
Cannot find any evidence that a person named Enoch Quarles (b.1825) ever existed. Some say Enoch Quarles (b.1825) is father of Katurah Quaarles.
Katurah is shown as granddaughter on 1850 census of Elizabeth & Hubbard Quarles. It appear more likely that Katurah is the daughter of Mary, because Mary is listed out of order, as if Mary is widowed.
UNIDENTIFIED: child male#3 (b.1821/25) on 1830-1840 census, cannot identify
UNIDENTIFIED: child female (b.1836/40), assume died; probably too young to marry by 1850
