Biography
Lavinia was born ca. 1810 and died between 1870 and 1879. Family records suggest Lavenia may have been a daughter of one Benjamin Cato and had brothers named Henry Cato and Jesse Cato. The only source for this origin seems to have been family traditions. The writer suggests future searchers should note a tract of land John Capers Kirkland sold to Mary V. Sawyer 28 December 1841, KSB I, page 274. The land was described as originally granted to one William Cato. This may represent Lavinia's father.[1]
