The citizens of Manaia and district were deeply sorry to hear of the death of Mr. Everett Cave which took place at the Manaia Private Hospital on Friday morning after a very severe illness.
He was a very old identity of the Waimate Plains, being over 40 years in Taranaki, his last 20 years being spent in Eltham. Mr. Cave was a man of sterling character and was held in very high esteem by all who knew him. He was considered one of the best bridge builders in New Zealand, and the Hon. J. G. Coates recently paid a striking tribute to the conscientious qualities of the late Mr. Cave, of whom it is stated that he had built no less than 240 bridges in the Dominion. His death is a decided loss to Taranaki.
He is survived by his widow and family, consisting of four sons and four daughters to mourn the loss of a good father; Messrs Everett Cave (Mahoe), William (Markham) Frederick and James (Eltham) Misses Elizabeth, and K. Cave (Mahoe) Mrs. J. Fowler (Manurewa) and Mrs. P. Horgan (Mahoe).
The funeral will leave the Manaia Catholic Church on Sunday at 2 pm tor the Manaia Cemetery. The deepest sympathy is extended to Mrs. Cave and family in their very sad bereavement.
