Biography

Mary was born in Jefferson County, Iowa, as was her mother. Her father was born in Virginia.

Mary lived in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Not much is known about her husband. According to Joyce (Freestone) McClellan, "he was a 'used horse dealer' (like car dealers). Was taking horses (possibly 30) to St. Louis, Mo. to sell. This occurred when Frank Earl (Mac's Dad) was only 11-12 years old. Nothing was ever heard from him - or of him - from that point on."

She died in Ottumwa when she was just 37 years old. Her death certificate lists her as a widow.

"Chronic nephritis" is listed on her death certificate as the cause of death.
