In the 1800, 1810, 1820, and 1830 US Censuses an Ezra Chadwick is shown living in Chatham, Columbia, New York.[3]
In 1840 and 1850 (the first Census that recorded family names) he is living in Arcadia, Wayne, New York.[4]
Ezra died on December 27, 1850 and is buried in the Newark Cemetery in Newark, Wayne, New York.[5]
Research Notes
Boyd and McCracken record a dispute between the authors and the editor of TAG.[2] The authors state that Ezra Lay Chadwick could not have been the son of this Ezra and Sarah Lay Chadwick because of a conflicting reference.[6] The editor maintains that the conflicting reference is wrong.[7]
I believe that Ezra Lay Chadwick was indeed the son of Ezra and Sarah because in the 1850 US Census he is shown living in the household of Ezra Lay Chadwick in Arcadia, Wayne, New York.[8]
