Biography

about 1655 born to unknown parents, probably in England

"Thomas Chadwick, the immigrant, is said by Mrs. Washburn to have been born about 1655, on what grounds we do not know."[1]

6 April 1674 married 16yo Sarah Wolcott at Newbury[2][3][4]

"He must have been at Newbury, Mass., in the early summer of 1672, if not before, for he contracted a liaison with Sarah Wolcott, born at Newbury in 23 Aug. 1657, daughter of John and Mary (Tharly) Wolcott, as the result of which Sarah, child of Sarah Wolcott, was born at Newbury in 16 Mar. 1673/4, out of wedlock, though the fact is not so specifically stated in the Vital Records of Newbury. The marriage of Thomas Chadwick to Sarah Wolcott took place within a month at Newbury on 6 Apr. 1674."[1][3]

3 April 1731 died in Lyme, Connecticut, without probate[2][1][3]

Children of Thomas and Sarah (Wolcott) Chadwick:[4]
  1. Sarah, b. 16 March 1673/4 in Newbury, Mass. out of wedlock[3]
  2. Mary, b. 6 March 1675 in Newbury, Mass.[5]
  3. Thomas, b. September 1677 in Newbury, Mass.[6]

Eight children were born at Watertown by 1695, and some time after that the family must have removed to Lyme, Conn., though where the last two children were born has not been discovered."[1]

Chadwick-2544 and Chadwick-455 appear to represent the same person because: Thomas came to America before 1672, but was born in England. He married Sarah Wolcott, was the father of Mary, and died in Lyme. Please merge them and correct the merged bio. Look at the references with Thomas Chadwick-455.

I agree with Jo. It is generally accepted that Thomas C-455 was not the son of John C-275. There was another John C-419 who was likely the brother of Thomas. They may have been related before they came to America (there were lots of Chadwicks in Rochdale) and they surely knew each other, but they were not father and son as all of the cited sources show.

I'm not sure where this list of names came from, but we're looking for original town records or records from a reputable genealogical publication. Original records like birth certificates and family bibles can also be excellent sources.

"Someone typed this on the internet and I copied and pasted it" is not a reliable source. There's an amazing amount of inaccurate genealogical information floating around on the internet.

From looking at the comments on your page, you seem to have had this issue before. Please make sure you have a reputable source before making changes to existing profiles. Wikitree guidelines are *not* to attach unproven relationships.

If you look at the "Sources" section of this profile, you can see some examples of acceptable sources.

The parents of Thomas Chadwick are unknown. Please do not add parents to this profile unless you can back them up with a reliable source.

John Chadwick names his three sons in his will dated 1680. Thomas is not among them.

Chadwick-455 and Schedewick-3 appear to represent the same person because: Same wife, same son, same person.
This looks like a connection to the Chaddock family line also. Have been looking for proof for many years if one and the same family?

Even the wills are not adequate for proof.
