On the morning of April 22, 1903, Emma Chadwick Bruce died at her home at Deford after an illness of ten months. The deceased was born in St. Clair county, October 16, 1869 and came here in the summer of 1884. On July 4, 1885 she was married to Arthur L. Bruce at Cass City and have resided in this vicinity since. She leaves a husband and three children, Wilbert, age nine, Blanch, age seven, and Clinton Jay, age ten months, also a mother, two sisters, Mrs. Elmer Bruce and Mrs. O. Ware, and live brothers, Elmer, Joe, Fred, Charley and Frank Chadwick, besides a host of friends to mourn their loss. She was a member or Fern Hive No. 200 of the L. O. T. M. and also a member of the M. E. church. The funeral was held in the Deford M. E. church, Friday, April 24 and the remains were laid to rest in the McQuillan cemetery.
