Biography

Freedom Chamberlain was born 15 April 1705 in Colchester, New London County, Connecticut, the son of Joseph Chamberlain [1] [2] and Mercy Dickinson. [3]

He married 1st Mary Soule (1701 - 1752) abt 1732, probably in Colchester, Connecticut. They had in Colchester:[3]

1st name is seen in some sources as John with Freedom as nickname, but Connecticut Birth Source has Freedom.

There are two Freedom Chamberlains born to brothers Nathaniel of Massachusetts and Joseph who moved to Connecticut. Nathaniel's son was married to Mary Soule. She stayed in the Plymouth Colony with her husband at least until he died in 1781. Joseph's son Freedom was also married to a woman named Mary who must have died before he started having children with another woman in 1755.
