"At a probate court holden at Irasburgh within and for the District of Orleans ... 21st day of December 1843 ... Josiah N. Stephens Administrator of Susanna Corliss late of Greensboro in said District deceased. ... declares that the said Susanna Corliss was the widow of James Corliss who died in Haverhill, NH about the year 1794. He further declares that he now claims a pension for the services of Simeon Stevens a former husband of the said Susanna Corliss that the said Simeon Stevens died at Newbury Vermont on the 6th day of July 1788 and that the said Susanna Corliss died at Greensboro Vermont on the 4th day of October 1840 aged one hundred years ... said Susanna Corliss was married to the said Simeon Stevens at Newbury aforeside on the 25th day of November 1784 by the Rev John Richards of Piermont ... the said Susanna Corliss maiden name was Susanna Chamberlin that her first husbands name was Sheperd and that he died and left two sons John Shepard and Norman Shepard who are the only heirs of the said Susanna..."^[2]
