Biography

Elizabeth Stroud was born in 1630. She married (1) Robert Chamberlain in Englandcitation needed, and had 4 children (Robert, Elizabeth, Sarah, and Jean).[1] Her first husband died and in 1664 she married (2) Francis Hickman, with whom she had 4 children (Joseph, Benjamin, Mary, and Hannah).[1][2]

Gilbert Cope has Elizabeth (Stroud) Hickman aka Chamberlain, with her 4 children and 2nd husband Francis Hickman, emigrating from England before 1685 (same year Francis Hickman died),[1] which would mean Elizabeth and Francis emigrated from England with all 8 children or at least most of them.

Gilbert Cope also shows Sarah (daughter from her first marriage) marrying Richard Arnold 2mth 19, 1681 near Burlington New Jersey,[1] which would suggest that this family emigrated before 1681.

She passed away in 1698.

Will made on 18 Apr 1698, which was proved 16 Sep 1698. Prepared by the late David C. Chamberlain

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Elizabeth by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Elizabeth:

Chamberlain-514 and Stroud-428 appear to represent the same person because: Identical marriage information and similar other information that might be resolved if these were merged. See also the comment by Caroline (Williams) Williston on the Chamberlain-514 profile

The evidence points very strongly to Elizabeth's maiden name being Stroud (and then her first husband was Robert Chamberlain and her second was Francis Hickman.) http://www.genealogy.com/forum/surnames/topics/hickman/2773/

Since that's the case, she needs to be merged with Stroud-428. Thanks! :)
