Biography

Abner Chamberlin was born on August 11, 1804.

He was a Captain in the militia and held town offices. In 1857 he moved from Newbury, VT to Spring Prairie with his wife and younger child; in 1867, he moved to Burlington, Wisconsin. He returned to Vermont in 1878.

He married Mary, daughter of Capt. David Haseltine, on Dec. 1, 1825. They raised a family of ten together:

  • Martha Ann, b. May 8, 1827 d. May 20, 1875 m. to Simeon Avery.
  • Mary Jane b. June 23, 1829 m. to William Brock and Hiram W. Kimball.
  • Everett b. May 5 d. Dec. 20, 1831
  • Preston Samuel b. Nov. 28, 1832
  • Adeline b. Mar. 8, 1835
  • George Campbell b. Feb. 24, 1837 d. Nov. 8, 1896
  • Everett b. May 8, 1839 d. Feb. 19, 1875
  • Helen Sophronia b. July 3, 1842 m. John R. Drake
  • Julia E. b. Jun. 8, 1845 m. Harvey W. Drake
  • Joseph E. b. Aug. 6, 1851

He passed away on October 4, 1884 in Bradford, Vermont.
