Biography

Arnetta was was born 1858 (See Research Notes) in Tennessee, USA. Her parents were James Franklin Muns and Sarah Jane Blackwell.

Arnetta V Muns, 18, married John R Chambers, 21, on January 4, 1880 in Randolph County, Arkansas.[1]

Since a birth/baptism record has not been located, the first record mentioning Arnetta is the "United States Census 1860" enumerated on June 21, 1860 with data being reported effective June 1, 1860. The MANN family of four were living with the family of Arnetta's assumed maternal grandparents. Arnetta was enumerated as a white female, A B Mann born about 1859 in Tennessee. They were living in Harrison Township, White, Arkansas, USA.[2]

By 1870, Arnetta's mother had married again to James W Gately who owned his own farm valued at $400. His personal property totaled $800. Arnetta's oldest son, Andrew, worked on the farm. James was the head of household for thirteen, four of whom had the surname, Muns: Andrew 18, Arneta 10, James F 8 and Sarah J 4. Arnetta's stepfather had at least six, maybe even seven, children from his first marriage. The youngest Gately child was Fany D 2. It is unclear which of his wives was Fany's mother since death/marriage information is not yet available. Arnetta was enumerated as a white female, Arneta Muns born about 1860 in Tennessee.[3]

Arnetta Muns first married on 04 Jan 1880 in Randolph, Arkansas, USA to John Riley Chambers, Jr.[4] That year Arnetta and her husband, John Jr. were still living in Columbia next to John's father and siblings. Both John and his father were farmers.[5]

Mrs. Arnetta (Muns) Chambers married secondly on 10 May 1885 in Davidson Township, Randolph County, Arkansas, USA to James Upshaw.[6]

Research Notes

Estimated birth of 1849 is not supported in the records.

What do records show for date/location of birth: include name used on source.

  • HOH was probably her maternal grandfather. Needs confirmation.
  • Next record at age 10 is "United States Census 1870" which uses Arneta Muns born about 1860 in Tennessee.[3]
  • Marriage#1 Record at age 18 uses Arnetta V Muns born about 1862 in Tennessee.[4]
  • United States Census taken on June 8, 1880 enumerated Arnetta at age 19 as Arnetta Chambus born about 1861 in Tennessee.[5]
  • Marriage#2 Record at age 24 uses Arnetta Chambers born about 1861 in Tennessee.[6]

Based above the above information:

Estimated birth should be 1860 in Tennessee.

LNAB: Normally I wait for a birth/baptism record to change LNAB from Mun (WT has 21). If that is not available I use the earliest record which in this case is Mann (WT has 9654). Records from Arnetta include Muns (WT has 72), Her grandfather was a Munns (WT has 224). However, in this case, family records of a direct ancestor have Mun as her last name. All possible last name variations have been entered in "Other Last Names" and search for a birth/baptism record should begin.

Muns-61 and Mun-25 appear to represent the same person because: LNAB for Mun-25 ought to be "Muns", same as parents

Both have identical vitae, linked / married to same spouse

Muns-61 and Mun-25 are not ready to be merged because: Record show many different names and dates between 1859 and 1861. Stated date of birth is close but not in that range. Research needed to resolve.
