William "Buck" Champion migrated to Calhoun County, Alabama around 1830. He owned 80.8 acres in the Rabbittown, Alabama area, according to probate records. The property was located near Brown Bridge Road, a land deal negotiated with the State of Alabama, and local Creek Indians. The property was subsequently sold back to the State, and private citizens and William returned to Floyd County ( Rome), Georgia. His descendants remained in the Calhoun County, Alabama area where they owned small parcels and rented land, or share-cropped the land. Many remain until today.
