Drury was born about 1767. Drury Champion ... He passed away about 1843. [1]

Drury 1st. wife name is unknown: But we are pretty sure that he had children by her, names are: (1). Willia, Female, (2). Mary (3). James M.

Drury Champion then married Edith "Edy" Young.

Residence

Drury lived in Halifax County, North Carolina in 1800 [2] along with William Champion.

1810 Smithland, Livingston County, Kentucky census: Drury's household is listed with 1 male age 26-44 (born 1766-1784), 1 female age 16-25 (born 1785-1794), 2 males under 10 (born 1801-1810), 1 female under 10 (born 1801-1810), and 3 slaves. The two sons are believed to be William Henry and James Moore Champion. The daughter is believed to be Elizabeth H, Champion.

1820 Salem, Livingston County, Kentucky census: Drury's household is listed with 1 male age 45 or older (born 1775 or earlier), 1 female age 26-44 (born 1776-1794), 3 males 10-15 (born 1805-1810, 3 males under 10 (born 1811-1820), 1 female age 10-15 (born 1805-1810), 1 female under 10 (born 1811-1820), and 3 slaves.

1830 Hardeman County, Tennessee census: Drury's household is listed with 1 male age 60-69 (Drury born 1761-1770), 2 males age 15-19 (twins Elisha and Elijah born 1811-1815), 1 male age 5-9 (Drew born 1821-1825), 1 female age 40-49 (wife Edy born 1781-1790), 1 female age 20-29 (Elizabeth born 1801-1810), 1 female age 10-14 (Mary born 1816-1820), 1 female age 5-9 (Sarah born 1821-1825), 2 female age 0-4 (Nancy B. born 1826-1830) and 6 slaves. Drew and Edy's daughter Louisa Rebecca Champion was born in Hardeman County, Tennessee in 1832.


Affidavit shows that Drew or Drury Champion arrived in the Republic of Texas, in August of 1837, after the April 14, 1836 Texas Declaration of Independence.

"He has resided in Republic 3 years and performed all the duties required of him as a citizen". Certificate #509 ...
