We know from firsthand information that after his wife, "ouma Bellie" died in 1918 in the great influenza plague, Callie was left with six minors to look after. The children were all adopted by different families, with one, Jacoba Louisa, adopted by the Beukes family of Klipheuwel, Caledon. [1]

The photo on the right was taken around 1934, with the earlier photo of "ouma Bellie (d. 1918)" pasted in.

Hi, would you be so kind to remove the Cape of Good Hope project from the trusted list of this profile. The period for the Cape of Good hope is 1652 - 1806.

Many thanks Susan
