Possible Mistaken Identity

This profile is for Sarah Chandler, the daughter of Roger Chandler, and Isabella Chilton.

She is not to be confused with Sarah, the daughter of Edmund Chandler, who migrated from Leiden to Duxbury 1632. His wives are unknown. His daughter Sarah was mentioned in her father's will of May 3, 1662; she is estimated to have been born about 1638. There is no further record of her.[1]

Some genealogies indicate that she was the Sarah who married Moses Simmons (Symonson), but there is no serious evidence to support this. This Sarah was married to Solomon Leonard at the time that Moses Simmons would have been married to Sarah.

Biography

Sarah Chandler was the daughter of Roger Chandler (abt.1580-bef.1665) and Isabella (Chilton) Chandler (bef.1587-1646), who married at Leiden on October 15, 1615. [Isabel Chilton was the daughter of James Chilton, Mayflower Pilgrim.] Their daughter Sarah was born before October, 15, 1622.[2] She married about 1640 Solomon Leonard or Leonardson. [3]

Sarah probably came to Plymouth with her parents about 1629 or 1630, when many of the puritans who had remained in Leyden arrived.[2]

Sarah married in Duxbury, Massachusetts, about 1640 , Solomon Leonard. He was born about 1610 probably in Monmouthshire, England and died in Bridgewater, Massachusetts before 1 May 1671.[2]

Sarah died at Bridgewater before 27 Oct 1675.[2]

The rejected match Chandler-2099 for this profile may be correct. Since there was no Duxbury, Plymouth, MA in 1605, Sarah's place of birth must have been in Europe. Place of death was the same on both profiles.

This is a merge of 8 profiles of Sarah Chandler. All had Moses Simmons as husband. The parents - Roger and Isabell (Chilton) Chandler. BUT Sarah, the daughter of Roger Chandler, married Solomon Leonard (Proved by his will)
This is the probable wife of Moses Simmons. Her father may be Roger Simmond (m Isabel) or Edmund Simmons.
