Biography

Thomas Chandler was born at Oare about 1570. He was the eldest son and heir of Nicholas Chandler and inherited Nicholas's land in Oare.

On July 19, 1602, Thomas married Ann Downham at the Wilcot Church. They had two children - John, born in February 1602, and Gabriel, whose baptismal record is missing and date of birth is unknown. Ann Downham Chandler died in 1620 and was buried in the Wilcot Churchyard June 25, 1620.

Thomas Chandler then married Martha (maiden name unknown) but had no children with her.

Thomas Chandler served as churchwarden of Wilcot from 1619 - 1629, the year of his death. He was buried in the Wilcot Churchyard June 20, 1629. His will was proved at Marlborough on November 15, 1630. His personal estate was valued at 310 pounds. [1]
