Biography

Albion Chandler was married to Carolyn J. Bankstow or Bankston on 4 June 1849 in Brooklyn, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. The marriage was performed by a justice of the peace.[1]

Albion and Caroline Chandler resided in Ohio for several years after their marriage. By 1856 they had relocated to Iowa, where the 1856 Iowa state census recorded them in Marion Township in Henry County. Albion was recorded as 34 years old and Caroline was 25; both were recorded as born in Ohio. Albion was a farmer and a member of the militia. Others in the household were female children C. E. Chandler, age 6, and Alice A. Chandler, age 2, both born in Ohio; E. Bankson, female, age 63 and a widow, born in Pennsylvania; and E. Khuns, age 4, female, born in Ohio. All had been residents of Iowa for 1/2 year.[2]

In July 1860, the 1860 U.S. Census recorded Albion and Caroline Chandler in Marion Township (Mt. Pleasant post office), Henry County, Iowa. Albion was 34 years old and a farmer; Caroline was 28. Children in the household were Celia E., 10; Alice A., 5; M. Frank, 3; Chas, 2; and Wm, 1 month. Albion was born in Maine; Caroline, Celia, and Alice were born in Ohio; and the three younger children were born in Iowa.[3]

Albion Chandler died on 22 October 1881 and is buried in Massillon City Cemetery, Massillon, Ohio.[4]
