Her mother is Delila Taylor. Mary is a decendant of Giles Chapman born 1702 in Bridlington, County of Yorkshire in the United Kingdom.

Mary married Asa B. Blanton on 13 Aug 1902 in Caroleen, Rutherford, North Carolina when she was 33 and he was 52. ^[1]

Mary died on December 27, 1946 in Rutherford County, North Carolina, USA. She was buried at Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Ellenboro, Rutherford County, North Carolina, USA^[2]
