I removed the bio that belonged to Chappell-186. Beth

What has caused confusion and wrong parents added to this profile was the early research of Phil E. Chappell, who documented this bloodline and others of Chappell south of the James River, VA. In his first edition of his book, PUBLISHED 1895 Phil E. Chappell wrote James Chappell, was son of Sarah Chappell Crawley and THOMAS CHAPPELL, the merchant of Petersburg, Virginia, who married 2nd to William Crawley. pp. 42-45 of "The Genealogical History of the Chappell, Dickie, and other kindred families." Archive, org. (https://archive.org/stream/genealogicalhist01chap#page/42/mode/2up).

Phil E. Chappell wrote an updated and revised version PUBLISHED in 1900, outlining Chapter VIII, "The Robert Chappell Branch." pp. 157-160 (married Sarah who as widow married William Crawley, migrated to Amelia, VA...) with new and more recent wills/records. "A Genealogical History of the Chappell, Dickie, and other kindred families." FamilySearch." https://www.familysearch.org/library/books/records/item/491219-a-genealogical-history-of-the-chappell-dickie-and-other-kindred-families-of-virginia-1635-1900?viewer=1&offset=0#page=166&viewer=picture&o=info&n=0&q= ) Depending on the version used without knowledge of the updated version, caused different fathers to the added to the ancestry, with other immediate families which may be added wrong.

The listed source, "The Chappell Family." The Virginia Magazine of History and Biography, Vol. 3, No. 4 (Apr., 1896), pp. 416-420 (5 pages) by Phil E. Chappell. The author wrote that his great-great- grandfather (given name unknown) was a merchant in Petersburg, Virginia, d. abt 1740 and wife Sarah Chappell, as widow, married 2nd to William Crawley." p. 417. Records will be added to the James Chappell, son of Robert Chappell and Sarah Chappell Crawley, updating this profile, of Amelia, VA. But it would be advantageous to remove the present bio which details in the bio belong to James Chappell (Chappell-186) who married Elizabeth Howell.

Any interested WikiTreer who wishes to help with these Chappell profiles it would be greatly appreciated.

Beth, please work on these Chappell profiles, and feel free to change bio to James Chappell-186 where the bio surely belongs. I added profiles for sons John Chappell and Robert Chappell, Jr. and manage them, likely maybe adopted this one that needs corrections but was not in my activity feed that I did so. Chappell-186 profile is a PPP, Protected Profile, so please add a message to that profile so others might see the bio prior to changes. I will help with locating sources for these Chappell profiles.

Bio for this profile does belong to James John Chappell (Chappell-186). Have taken off wife Elizabeth (Howell) Chappell from this profile. Per my activity feed now back to March 2018 when I joined, did not add myself as manager for this profile, only for sons John and Robert, Jr., but will work on Chappell records to document correctly this profile and others per extant source records.

Robert Chappell-370 and SARAH COX appear to be the parents of James born 1722
This excellent bio belongs to James Chappell-186 born 1694. NOT this James born 1722

This James was born 1722 in Prince George County, Virginia, and died October 1776 in Amelia County, Virginia. He married (1) SUSANNAH HUDSON 1748 in Prince George County, Virginia, daughter of CHARLES W HUDSON. She was born Bef. 1730, and died Bef. 1764. He later married (2) PHOEBE ARCHER November 17, 1767 in Amelia County, Virginia. She was born September 03, 1733 in Prince George County, Virginia. His parents are ROBERT CHAPPELL SR and SARAH COX

I agree that this bio should be moved. Over 3 years have passed since your suggestion. May one move the bio or does one need approval? Thanks Beth
