Biography

Jean Francois Charles was born on 06 June 1859 in Plurien, Cotes-d'Armor, Bretagne, France.
His parents were Louis Marie Charles (father) and Jeanne Marie Alory. [1]

On 08 Oct 1882, Jean married Aimee Marie Leray in Plurien, [2]and they produced two children:

Jean Francois Aime Charles - b. 26 Jul 1883, and
Armand Louis Marie Charles - b. 17 Nov 1884.

Jean was a merchant seaman, and was Bosun on the sailing ship Ernestine.
On 14 Apr 1887 he was at sea between Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Conditions were very rough, and in gale-force winds he was lost overboard and drowned. [3]
