Biography
Mary Charles was born about 1809 in Hubberston, Pembrokeshire, Wales. Her mother was most likely named Catherine (one of Mary's daughters lived with a widowed Catherine Charles in 1851).
In 1841 Mary Phillips (age 30-34) lived at Clover Hill in New Moat, Pembrokeshire with her husband Robert (35-39), daughter Elizabeth (2), and son George (1), as well as Mary Owen (15-19) and Martha Thomas (70-74).[2]

In 1861 Mary Phillips (age 52, Domestic Duties) lived at Quay Street in St Mary, Pembrokeshire with her husband Robert (57, Sales Man) and two daughters: Ellen Jane (14, Dressmaker) and Mary Maria (10, Scholar).[3]
In 1871 Mary Phillips (age 60, Housekeeper) lived in St Thomas, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire with her husband Robert (67, Salesman).[4]
Mary's husband Robert Phillips passed away in January 1872.
In 1881 Mary Phillips (age 67, Household Duties) lived at Three Crowns Diamond Street in Pembroke St Mary with her daughter Mary M Phillips (29, Innkeeper) and grandson Frederick C Leaf (12, Scholar).[5]
Mary Phillips passed away in 1885, aged 76 years. Her death was registered in Haverfordwest in the first quarter of the year.[6]
