DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Étienne by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Étienne:
In your answer to the merge of Chartier dit Robert-6 with Chartier-205 you mention that the mother of Etienne was Marie Faucon-4 which is correct, when I posted Marie Lafont-4 in the original document of Etienne marriage Marie Faucon last name spelling was written Lafont and her name is also at Guillames death May 23 1707. As for the guarantors document I didnt make copies, I was doing research in genealogy sites at that time. These documents were kept by family members in old bibles and some are now at the Canadian Archives. My own ancestors Vital Givogue had a dit Larose and it was a mystery to me too because his birth certificate in France didnt have a dit

Chartier dit Robert-6 and Chartier-205 appear to represent the same person because: My suspicion that the two were the same was corroborated by Denis Givogue, who manages Chartier-205. The dates are close, but not exactly the same, and the parents listed are the same. The wife Jeanne Drapeau is the same. The one troublesome thing is Etienne-205's mother is Marie Lafont Lafont-4 where Chartier dit Robert-6's mother is Marie Faucon Faucon-4. Did Guillaume have a second wife?

Etienne Chartier dit Robert-6 is the same person as Etienne Chartier-205 but there is no dit Robert in Etiennes last name. The dit was added by the priest to confirm that he saw the document written by a guarantor i.e. Robert to support his identity. The dit should never be added unless it was mention at the original birth certificate.
Just profiled Etienne Chartier dit Robert (Chartier-dit-Robert-6). Wondering if this is the same person? Close DOB, same wife (mine with an extended surname), same father. What do you think, Merge?
