Deputy Sheriff of Poweshiek County, Brooklyn. Was born in Indiana, February 22, 1840. Came to Iowa with his father Havey Chase, in 1853, the family locating in Tama County. The Chases were among the pioneer of that county. H.M. resided there for seventeen years, engaged in agricultural pursuits. He was married in the winter of 1859, to Miss Matilda Bayley, of Tama County. By this union they have three children: William L., Clara, Ada. Mr. Chase located in Brooklyn in 1870. During the first few years he was engaged in the stock trade.
