In 1900, Robert is found living with his widowed mother in Harwich working as a surveyor. On the 1910 census for Harwich , Robert W. Chase, age 30 , married 2 years, Occ. Inspector for dredging work, By 1930 he is a widower living with two of his daughters and is foreman of the lumber yard in Harwich.
