Biography

George Chase was born in 1857 in Newburyport, the son of Jacob B Chase and his wife Hannah (maiden name Thurlow).

George became a doctor, although when he was 22 years of age his stated occupation on the Census (1880) was "Christian Scientist". His father's occupation was "pilot". His father's occupation was later on described as "Sea Captain." (see death record)

George married Carrie E Williams on 5 July 1885. They were married in Salsibury, Massachusetts. George was 28 years old.

The 1910 Census shows him as a doctor, employed on his own account, in the area of Mental Science in Portland, Maine. By this time he was in his early 50's and the household consisted of himself, his wife and two daughters.

George's wife died in February 1921, having been somewhat in poor health for about two years. George then died a few months later in April 1921. His cause of death was described as "Acute Dilation of Heart" with a contributing cause of acute indigestion. Both George and his wife are interred at Evergreen Cemetery.
