Biography
1860 - Union County, Georgia
Abner B Chastain was enumerated at Blairsville Post Office, Subdivision 126, Union County, Georgia for the June 22, United States Census, 1870. He was noted as born 1851-1852 in Georgia and a farm laborer. He was marked as having attended school within the last year as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household are male Raney L Chastain, female Esther Chastain, male Jahue L Chastain, male Andrew Y Chastain, male Lewis N Chastain, male Washington S Chastain, female Mary E Chastain, male James H Chastain, male John B Chastain and female Martha A Chastain.[1]
Ab Chastain was enumerated as head of the household in Civil District 15, Monroe County, Tennessee for the June 22, United States Census, 1900. He was noted as a farmer and born May 1851 in Georgia. He had been married six years and was an owner as seen in an image of the original census. Also included in the household are wife Elizabeth Chastain, son Thomas Chastain, stepdaughter Mary E Swaney, daughter Dora Chastain, son Caleb Chastain, daughter Minnie Chastain and son Guss Chastain.[2]
