Rene or Reney Chastain was my great grandfather, and Andrew Young Chastain was my grandfather. He (Andrew) had 5 children by his first wife. I don't know her name. The children were Ida, Ada, Stella, Julius & Oscar. When his first wife died, he married my grandmother, Ellie Nix. She had a lot of Cherokee Indian blood, perhaps as much as half. They had 5 children together. They were Oralee, Alma, Lillie, William Henry (my father) and Gordon. Gordon was an officer in the army during WWII and helped to liberate one of the concentration camps. He sent my parents photographs he had taken in the camps. He was murdered after the war by his best friend in a jealous drunken stupor. They owned a night club together and it was rumored they dealt in black market trade. I know Andrew died when my father was a young boy. My father was born in 1907, so Andrew probably died around 1913 or 14.[6]
