He was noted as born May 1889 in Arkansas, single and a farm laborer. Also included in the household are head Benjamin L Chastain, wife Mary M Chastain, daughter Myrtle Chastain, son Henry Chastain and son Arthur Chastain as seen in an image of the original census.[1]
Baxter Lafayette Chastain registered for military service as recorded in this June 5, 1917 United States World War I Draft Registration Card. His birth was listed as May 30, 1888 in Paron, Arkansas. His address was Bland, Benton County, Arkansas. His occupation was farming and he listed a wife and two children. He was tall with a medium build and had blue eyes and dark brown hair as seen in this image of the original form.[2]
