The 8th June, 1728, was born a black girl to Estienne Chastain named Janne.
The 3d November, 1728, was born a boy to Etienne Chastain; he had for godfather, Gillaume Sallé; for godmother, Elizabeth Sallé; was baptized by Mr. Swift; was baptized the 27th December of the said year.
The 19th March (?) was born a black girl to Estienne Chastain. (Note 95. In Henrico county records, February I, 1706, is noted a payment to "Dr. Chasteen." )
The 17th February, 1731 [1732], was born to Estienne Chastain a black girl named Suson.

They could be. I think in this case, it's just the wrong father being linked to Mary Magdalene Cocke (Chastain-234), as the biography even says Stephen Chastain is her father. I'll just change that link to match it.
Chastain-1879 and Chastain-55 do not represent the same person because: Name, birth and death info do not match. Could they be brothers, which would explain the mother?
Chastain-1879 and Chastain-55 appear to represent the same person because: Chastain-1879 has Mary Magdalene listed as a daughter, which fits the description in Chastain-55. In addition, the family tree I have (https://www.genealogy.com/ftm/f/a/r/Randal-A-Farrar/GENE1-0009.html) lists Martha Dupuy as a mother, which fits Chastain-55.
