Biography
R E Lester Chastain was enumerated as son of the head of household at 107 South Wood Street, Caney, Montgomery County, Kansas for the April 4, United States Census, 1930. He was noted as born 1922 in Arkansas and single as seen in an image of the original census. Also included in the household are head Joseph Chastain, wife Ida Chastain, son Benjamen Chastain, son Leo Chastain, son Marion Chastain, daughter Gladys Chastain and son Eugene Chastain.[1]
On April 1, 1935, R E Chastain lived in Montgomery County, Kansas.[2]
R E Chastain was enumerated as son of the head of household at 208 North Fawn, Caney, Caney City, Montgomery County, Kansas for the April 9, United States Census, 1940. He was noted as born 1922 in Arkansas and single. He was a clerk (soil erosion) as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household are head Joseph P Chastain, wife Mary J Chastain, son Marion Chastain, son Junior Chastain, son-in-law Charles Holt, daughter Gladys Holt and granddaughter Shirley Chastain.[2]
Lt. R E Chastain is buried at Morehead Cemetery in Morehead, Neosho County, Kansas.[3]
