DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mary by comparing test results with other carriers of her ancestors' mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mary:
I believe this is the Mary who married Thomas Pruitt (Prewitt). Not Marie- Magdalene the one who married Wm Saleé. Also we need a standard for naming people. Should we use the name as issued by the parents as the proper first name and then in the narrative somewhere state the person used an anglicized version such as Pierre / Peter, Jean / John. We must not however conflate Mary and Marie. Frequently they were both used in same family. As for Pruitt there are umpteen spellings. Some living today still use the old spelling. Most of Joseph’s family went to Missouri after he died and used Prewitt.
