Biography

Also known as Thomas de Cherie.

The Cherry family of Bray is descended from the DE CHERIES of Picardy and Normandy, Lords of Beauval Linguire and Villencourt A branch settled in England at an early period. In 1407, as appears from the French Archives, Jean or John de Cherie Sought for and obtained a safe conduct from the King to pass into Normandy for the purpose of arranging for family Affairs there. By an Inq post Mort (14 HenIV 1412-3), it appears that Thomas and John Cherie held lands in Plympton Co Northampton and from this Thomas and John his son (the Jean of 1407) descend the present representatives of the family in England.
