Biography

Edward LaGrande Cherry was born on March 2, 1878 to John M. Cherry (1833-1915) and Juliet Adelaide Robertson (1836-1922) in DeWitt, Nebraska. He was one of ten children born to this union.

As a teacher, he taught in the Benton and Lane Counties in Oregon. Eventually, he became a Principal at Cordon, Oregon and Superintendent of Schools in St. Marie's and Mullan, Idaho and Hermiston, Oregon.

On August 14, 1912, he married Beth Docia Huston in Fairbury, Nebraska. They would have five children: Ruth Adelaide (1913-2008), Howard LeGrande (1915-1990), Jean Lorraine (1916-1992), Mildred Huston (1920-1991), and Helen Lucille (1923-1926).
