David Wherry Jr., the youngest of the 3 children of David and Mary Wherry, was born in about 1717 in County Antrim, Ireland. He was raised on the family farm; upon the death of David, Sr. in 1743 he and his brother James became owners of the farm. David Jr. and James bought a 201-acre farm in 1746 and farmed that one together until 1764, when David Jr. bought James' half. This farm remained in the family until the early 1950s, when it was sold.
The 1790 Federal Census in East Nottingham Twn, Chester County, Pennsylvania states that in the household of David Wherry Jr. there lived “1 male under 16, 2 males over 16, 1 free white female”.
David was a Presbyterian and an Elder of Rock Church, Cecil, Maryland for many years.
Despite his age he served in the Revolutionary War, in charge of the stores for Chester County.
David died of asthma on 7 July 1800 in East Nottingham Township, Chester, Pennsylvania. He was buried in Sharpes Cemetery in Fair Hill, Cecil, Maryland.
