Biography

Mary Chesebrough, first child of Samuel Chesebrough and Priscilla Alden, was born 21 September 1702 at Stonington, Connecticut baptized at the First Congregational Church, Stonington, but not until 15 July 1705 [1].

She married Joseph Hewitt at Stonington, 5 October 1720 [1].

They had at least 10, probably 11 children, all born at Stonington[1]:

  1. Nathaniel Hewitt1 born 11 August 1721
  2. Samuel Hewitt born 11 May 1723
  3. Mary Hewitt born 20 January 1725/26
  4. Hannah Hewitt baptized North Stonington, 28 November 1728
  5. Joseph Hewitt born 2 May 1731, died after 8 November 1784 (named in father's will)
  6. Alden Hewitt born 15 November 1734
  7. Priscilla Hewit born 28 May 1737, died before November 1766
  8. David Hewitt baptized North Stonington, 28 Oct 1739 possbly died young, not named in father's will
  9. Prudence Hewitt born 10 Oct 1742, d. aft. 14 Jun 1802
  10. (…) Hewitt (a daughter) born and died 26 May 1744
  11. Anne Hewitt born 26 May 1746 [2]

Mary (Chesebrough) Hewitt died 12 October 1754 [3], and was buried at Great Plain Cemetery, Stonington [4].
