Biography

Erwin H. Chisholm, age 84, of Brainerd, Minnesota passed away March 8, 2001 at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, March 10, 2001 at 10:00 AM at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd with Father Seamus Walsh officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery with military honors provided by the Brainerd American Legion Post #255. Visitation will be on Friday, March 9, 2001 from 5:00 ? 8:00 PM, at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, Minnesota with prayers at 7:00 PM. Visitation also an hour before the service on Saturday at the church. Erwin H. Chisholm was born April 5, 1916 in Fort Ripley Township, Crow Wing County in Minnesota son of John and Elizabeth (Donahue) Chisholm. He Lived and farmed near Crow Wing State Park with his family and he attended school at Barrows, Minnesota. On July 9, 1936 he was united in marriage to Alice Borg at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd. He worked for the WPA, also worked at the railroad shops and the paper mill. Then he served in the United State Army during World War ll. Following his honorable discharge he moved back to Oak Lawn Township where he farmed most of his life. He was also a building contractor specializing in stucco. He retired in 1993. He was a member of the Labor Local Union # 563 in Brainerd; a member of the Bricklayer Local #15, the Brainerd American Legion Post #255 and St. Francis Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening.

Erwin is survived by his wife Alice; 3 sons, LaVerne (Joan) Chisholm, Harlan ?Chink? (Sally) Chisholm both of Brainerd, Danny (Sharon) Chisholm of Merrifield; daughter Mary Ann (Peter) Probasco of Palmer, Alaska; 2 sisters Geraldine Determan of Lancaster, PA, Betty Engman of Virginia, Minnesota, 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. A daughter Marlene, son Larry, Parents, 10 brothers and 6 sisters preceded him in death.^[1]
