Henry Chown was a son of Charles and Joan Chown of Rockbeare in Devon. He was baptised there on 7 April 1702.[1]
Henry Chown married Ann Cookney at Holy Trinity Church in Exeter on 16 May 1727 [2] They lived at first at Rockbeare, where they baptised three children and then in Exminster parish where they baptised four more, starting in 1735.
He died in 1770 and was buried at Exminster on October 29th.[3] He had made a will in 1765. Unusually for a Devon will, a copy survives, among the deeds of Spurways, which are at the Devon Heritage Centre.[4]
