Kolbein was born in 1890 and cristened on 31. August the same year. At this time his parents were living on Halvardø northeast of Øksneshamn in Lødingen, Nordland, Norway. [1] The family was registered here in the 1891 census.[2]
By 1900 his family had moved to Vaaje (Voje), where his father was running a shop and farm. [3] At age 15 he was christened on 23. July 1905.[4] He was still living in the same place in 1910, working as a shop clerk.[5]
In the 1920 census he is listed at Storhaugen Søndre (Vaage), working in his father's shop and post office. [6]
Kolbein died in December 1968 in Oslo and was buried at Voje in Lødingen.[7][8]
